Not to beat a dead horse, but here is my 2 cents:
It was obvious AT THAT TIME the the voting population wanted a pro-war
candidate. Kerry was that democratic candidate. Was he wrapped in lies
as much as the Bush machine? Almost certainly.
BUT, he knew what it was like to serve - big difference. I believe
that he would have gotten us out quicker (and would not have tolerated
torture in prisons to the extent that our current administration does).
So, the issue here was voting your conscience (voting for the one who is
closest to your beliefs) as opposed to once again voting for the lesser
of 2 evils. In this instance, I believe that the greater of the 2 evils
was so much more so that voting for the other one was justified.
Of course, for most of us, Kucinich or Dean was our man, but that was
not a final choice.
I guess my point is that, no matter how one opposed Bush, you were
justified in doing so - it's just that voting for anyone other than
Kerry was a wasted vote, unless you count the votes for "wet paint" as
somehow meaningful as a protest vote.
Let us all strive to usher in Peace for the new year,
RiS
