Re: Connie, here is your laptop.... [WAS: Re: Computer advice please?]

We will try to educate you bill.
First off READ and READ my comments.
I proved you wrong and you can't take it.. read below.
You asked for proof, I gave it now you are showing how clueless you are.
As for the used link. Read again, someone else posted it.

On 10/10/2005 11:24 PM, The digits of Tha Billdozer's hands composed the following:
No prob
http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/inspn_quickship?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

32bit processors 1.4ghz Pentium with a 400mhzFSB, a 14" monitor, 30gb hard drive, 24x CD burner (BTW, she specifically asked for a DVD burner), 256mb of memory... yeah, sure sounds better than what I posted.

Read bill. The 1200 was 1/2 the price. Not the same but pretty close for 1/2 off.

The Inspiron 1200 is $499-$588 depending.

OLD AND OUTDATED... not to mention SSSLLLOOOWWW as all hell... is that the best you can do ?? and wht if it breaks ?? what about the warranty ?? OH, that's right it is limited.

Give me a break. Plenty current.

The 6000 is $1049.

Still a 32bit processor with a 400mhzFSB.

I'm sorry you have been fooled by media. a 64 bit processor won't help you with a 32 bit OS. That's right. Win XP is 32 bit so 64 bit doesn't gain you squat. Read the reviews. Folks see almost no improvement with 64 bit. FSB makes a big difference, this one was 400, yours 333.

PLUS, it's a DELL... you know what DELL's warranty is ?? as soon as it leaves the factory there is no warranty.

A bit of an exaggeration there Bill. There service has gone down hill but there is still a warranty. I have had no problems with Dells here when they have had issues.

WHAT ?? now I know you are smoking crack.

AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology ML-30

Yep a lessor processor with no battery saving features. Did you read what she asked for? Apparently not. She didn't ask for a battery hog speed demon. She asked for something to do basic stuff with long battery life. The Centrino is paying for battery life.

That's right 64bit processor... not some 6 year old crappy 32bit processor.

Get real. That was the latest Centrino. As in 2x the speed at half the MHZ because it Parallel processs.

(1MB L2 cache, 1.60GHz, up to 1600MHz system bus);

Right First clue. Note 1MB cache VS mine with 2MB. That is where the difference is. Then notice "Up to 1600MHz FSP" not 1600FSB. That is because in a lap-top application it can't run that fast. The clue is the 333 memory listed below. Its' really running at 333 FSB.

YUP, that's right up to 1600mhzFSB... not 400.

Up to, but in actuality running at 333. Considering that you picket a notoriously flaky Sis Chip set that has to share that 333 because it's integrated video it's even worse.

512MB (256/256) DDR333 SDRAM;

That's right, 512mb not 256... yup, you are sure proving your point here... your system is far superior.

Can't you read! Yours is 512 DDR 1 at 333. Mine is 512 DDR2 at 400. That's 400 dual pipeline, like 800 at DDR 1. Course you don't' really understand this kind of "technical mumble" do you?

80GB hard drive;

At what 5400 RPM? Where is your link?

HAHAHA !!! compared to your 30-60 ?? I'll take the 80gb any day... you sure you want me to continue ??

I said 60 at 7200RPM. A few extra $$$ (remember it was cheaper than yours) and you can have 80 if you need it. I didn't hear she did.

integrated DVD-Dual drive (DVD+/-RW);

was there/

Integrated meaing part of the computer and not a swapable drive... AND, it's a Dul layer DVD+/-RW drive... and not some cheeze ass, broke down 10 year old reconditioned 24x CDR.

15.0" XGA (1024 x 768) TFT display;

Here's another... in order to get the 15 inch monitor on yours she has to spend $1,000... yeah, that's a real bargain.

Your not reading. IT was WXGA 15". That's more resolution and no extra. Your grasping at straws.

SiSM760GX chipset with integrated Mirage2 graphics;

Hmmm, that's odd... I could not find these specs on the DELL page... I wonder why ??

Because your not reading and not computer literate. It's a Centrino. That's an Intel Chip set as well. Hence no third party flaky company.

802.11b/g WLAN,

OH, none of your laptops come with this... sorry, but I think that was one of the first things she asked for.

It's integrated in the Centrino Chip set, that has the Nic and 802.11g in it. But again your not reading.

10/100 LAN, V.92 modem

I'll give DELL the benefit of the doubt and assume they come with these.

Pentium®  M Processor 725 (1.60 GHz/2MB Cache/400MHz FSB)
That's faster processor (an AMD 1.6 is slower than 1.6, an Intell 1.6 is)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... man, I had a greta laugh over that one... a 6 year old 32bit processor is faster than a brand new 64bit processor ?? you are so full of *** it's you're eyes are brown.

Again your clueless. do you know the Centrino process? It does parallel instructions (2x as many as others) so that 1.6GHz is about 3.2. The 64 doesn't buy you anything unless you use a 64 bit OS, which Windowz is not. 6 Year old? Get a clue? That is early 2005 technology. Dude you been smoking crack with the Dell Dude your getting a Dell person?

PLUS, lets not forget the differnce between the 400mhz FSB and a 1600mhz FSB... last time I checked 1600 was greater than 400... 400 TIMES GREATER !!
Again let's not forget that your system was running at 333 not 1600 and mine was 400 with DDR2 which is double pipelined.

BUT, I must continue to put you in your place.

Oh do try.

2x the cache.

WOW, so it has a 2mb cahce compared to a 1mb L2 that I posted... one spec... yup, you sure proved me wrong.

Also 400mhz buss, while your add says up to 1600

Yup, most MODERN computers come with a FRONT SIDE BUS that can be configured... BUT, let me remind pholks that the reason DELL has a sale on these Inspirons is becuz they were CRAP to begin with 6 years ago... my ex-roommates wife had one that her company bought her... IT DIED IN 6 MONTHS.

Dude. Inspiron is a line. Been around for years but there are many computers on the line. Some are good, some are junk. They change.

the reality is it is running at 333mhz (see memory speed in your system)

How would you know that ?? you have not even seen the specs on MY system... who is to say that I won't configure the FSB to 1600 ?? IN FACT, my current laptop comes with the same.

You posted them.

15.4in WXGA Display - more display

.4 inches bigger...

and 1280 pixels (WXGA) instead of your 1024 XGA where the real difference is.

I bet you really win the boys over with that one... AND, in order to get it she has to pay over $1,000 for a broke down, busted ass, 6 year old 32bit computer.

You won't give up on that exaggeration will you. And since your computer illiterate you got fooled by the 64 bit and up to 1600FSB trick.

Yeah, you're right... what was I thinking ??

For $125 more get SXGA or $175 USKGA
512MB DDR2 DIMM Same amount 2x the speed as it is DDR2
24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive

You seem to continuously forget she specifically asked for a DVD burner.... which none of these DELLs come with... even in the upgrade.

Your not reading. It's there. Read the options. She asked about if she needed it. It's there as an option.

60GB2 Ultra ATA Hard Drive 7200 RPM (close enough what speed was yours? 5400? For about $100 more she can have 80)

SO, lets see here... $125 for the SXGA and $100 for the 80gb... that's $225 whihc puts the 6000i over the cost of mine.

But more screen. For the base price it was still more monitor than yours.

You get the idea.

Uhm, no I don't... but then again you're the one saying a 6 year old 32bit system is better than a brand new (under warranty) 64bit system.

You are a piece of work.

I don't have time to chase every deal,

Why not ??

but my point is that that is a $600-$800 computer you offered at $1200. I now proved it,

uhm, no you didn't

are you happy For $1200 she can get way more computer.

Uhm, right.

Sure am.

As for your other comment.
Do you really make a living at this? Are that many people fooled?
Do you really think I make a living at this? You don't read do you? You never seem to. You want to believe what you want.
I make a living, not in computers but in electronics.
See I design the mother boards and electronics that you claim to know about. I pick the chips, I lay out the circuit board, I have the protos built. I send them through FCC for testing and get them tweaked.
I bet you don't know a TQFP from an SOIC, From a Schotkey Diode, from a Tantalum Cap. Yep bill I know this stuff because I design it AT THE CHIP LEVEL. I probably make more in a day than you do all month.
Of course I dont' know squat, I only design it.

I don't know why I keep letting a clueless wingut drag me down to his level and argue with someone we all ignore and know is a winnut. I'm sorry folks for feeding into Bills craziness. I'll stop now.
