Which is why I like cable internet... simple and straight forward... cable into modem, ethernet from modem into NIC... if your modem goes down do a hard boot of both modem and computer and that usually takes care of it... if not call the cable company and have them run a diagnostic from their end... if it's a line problem they can tell... if it's a modem problem they can tell... past that if it is not the line or modem it is in the computer.


PLUS, then there is the whole mess around IDSL, ADSL and whether or not you are close enough to the CO... and if you are to far away you have to go with IDSL which can cost anywhere from $55-100 a month... hell, I've been paying $29.99 (34.96 after tax) a month for Road Runner.
