The Mayor's Race Saga Part Two

So the second mayoral election in San Diego came and
went.

Surfer Chick Donna Frye came in first but without
enough votes to avoid a a runoff election in November.

The old chief of police came in second, and thankfully
the rich man who tried to buy the vote came in third.
Steve Francis (the rich man) spent a record two
million dollars of his own money in his bid for the
mayor's office and came in third so he's a no go.
Turns out that's the most money any mayoral candidate
ever spent in San Diego.

So in November, we've got a former Police chief
running against a current city council woman.

In other wild and crazy news, San Diego has a new
interim mayor, openly gay Toni Atkins notching up the
number of lesibans holding high offices that were
elected by San Diegans. So now I've to a lesbian
mayor, lesbian district attorney, lesbian state
senator, and no city council representative at all.

It certainly isn't politics as usual around here.
