IMO, this system is not bad to actually keep the guild rewards how
Blizzard wants them to be: To get the best rewards your guild has to
offer you have to be an active, long term member. Guild hoppers will
have a hard time grabbing any rewards.

It's not just guild hoppers. Basically a single guild change can mean an
incredibly hard catch-up phase.

The problem is it takes a very very long time to grind guild rep, so you
are basically locked in to a guild permanently, because the process of
starting over with a guild is a massive undertaking.

Sure, if I did 25 dailies every day, I'd be moving faster, but the ONLY
thing dailies do is give me ~40 guild rep and some useless pogs... er, I
mean gold I don't need.

You don't need to do 25 dailies a day, as that would get you to the weekly
cap within a few days.

So, if I were unhappy with my guild (I'm not) and wanted to switch, I'd
be looking at probably at least 6 months to get to where I am right now,
since it's not like I can go back and do the Cat zones over again.

Going from revered to exalted (21k rep) will take about 6-7 weeks (due to
the cap) *IF* you reach the weekly cap every week. So going from neutral to
exalted (42k rep) will take at least 12-14 weeks, again provided that you
reach the weekly cap each week, which means running about 15 daily quests
every day for 14 weeks (less, if you run instances as well).

If you do less, this could well turn into half a year's work.
