Under the old WoW, that was pretty normal, though the respawn time
tended more towards 5 minutes rather than 1. Since they now phase the
environment, why do I see a boss that is aleady killed? He should be
forever gone in my timeline...?

I've had this happen a couple of other times now.

You share your current phase with other players and your phase only changes when you hand a quest in so the boss needs to re-spawn in the same way that it always did.

I do wish that named mob re-spawn rates were longer. It seems ridiculous that you can kill one and he's back before you've left the area. I've even had one re-spawn before I looted him before now.


Also, with the new phasing, I only rarely see anyone else playing at
all. It has pretty much become a solo game now, since everybody else is
in a different phase. I see tons of people in the towns, but the
questing fields is pretty much just the mobs and me.

I've not tried the lower levels yet but that certainly isn't the case in the 80+ levels. There are plenty of people around on my server.
