Mage's are tricky when it comes to getting flagged, I've found. While an
AoE like raining blizzard down on a mob would not flag you if he was
standing in the middle of it, if you have 2 mobs on you that your kiting,
and he's standing in the middle of them and you frost nova root them, that
will flag you ...kinda sucks...
Hmm, if Frost Nova will flag you, wonder what other skills are exceptions
then? Would Hungering Cold catch a flagged enemy and flag you? Or what about
melee AoEs like Bladestorm/Whirlwind? I know Magma Totem and Fire Nova
don't, I don't think any of the channeled AoEs do(Rain of Fire, Hellfire,
Blizzard, and Hurricane certainly don't), Howling Blast and DnD don't, Fan
of Knives doesn't...
As of last night, Avenger's Shield is apparently in this list. I
Capt. America'd a caster mob to pull it and the shield bounced to a
flagged Ally and tagged me for PvP. Then I got to spend forever chain
killing a Nelf druid who kept trying to "surprise" my wife's Elemental
Shaman and I when we pulled quest mobs while waiting for our flags to
drop.
