This one you need to do in order to advance the whole area
quest line...

I just looked it up, as I wasn't sure myself. It seems it *used* to be required, but now seems it's not, except for the achievement. I say *seems*, as i haven't tried it and this was a reply regarding the quest, not actually from Bliz:

"this quest is no longer required to get 300 first aid. however, it is still a very easy quest and gives you all the training for free. If you go to the FA trainer you have fork out quite a bit of gold to learn all the bandages you can learn for free after completing this quest."

If and when I ever do this quest, I will keep my current mouse settings: click to move, etc, and try to hit the spots while still moving. ...
