What should I do after I've got the dots up though?

Start dotting up the next mob ;-)

There isn't always a next mob close to hand ;-)

In that case drain soul, it does quite a bit of damage. Or drain life,
though at 80 the health gained by it is negligible, I'm not sure what it's
like in the low-mid 70ies. Or if the mob is really going to live long, cast
a shadow bolt, despite your stated dislike :)

I noticed drain life didn't seem as good as I'd remembered it, will
have to investigate more but seems drain soul is probably my best
"mob's nearly dead, what do I do?" filler ;-)

Ok that sounds about what I'm wanting to do aside from the curses thing,
I'll check out the maths on a target dummy soon. I guess hard numbers
convince me better than arguments without numbers behind them, although
at least you guys have convinced me to at least *look* at it, if the
numbers support you I'll admit I'm wrong and switch :-)

I'll be curious to hear how you do.

Posted the results in another post, imagine you've found it by now -
result was yeah, you guys are right, so I'll give CoA a go next time
I'm playing. That said, the increased healing with CoE has some
benefits too, but yeah not really enough.

I have a horrible feeling I will look awful on the damage meters... :-P

I know I do. When some guildies took me along on my first heroic run at 80
the one random member we had in our group kept complaining about me doing
only 1200dps, when he and everybody else was in 5k+ GS items and stuff
hardly lived long enough for me to target them, let alone deal damage.

Only 1200 lol, that's better than plenty others I've seen

that was at 80

I've seen plenty doing less at 80. Been a few times my priest has not
been lowest dps, while healing, and I average 1200 on a good run
(whilst healing, I could average 1500-1800+ if I was there as dps)
Also remember a former guildie pushing out 700dps, now grated I think
my old dps meter came out with lower numbers than the meters most
people use (they all magically increased a bit when I changed meter)
but still, that's bad no matter the meter!

I'm already doing 1400 on the target dummy so hoping I can
vaguely hold my own in groups

you should do fine, then, at least on bosses :)

Hope so anyway, was shocked how high it went on the dummy given my
gear really isn't that good :-)

just nervous about trash dying too fast.

I still suck on trash.

Hehe sure you're not that terrible ;-)
