As far as I understand it, this doesn't mean I get in, it only informs me
that I can sign up to enter the pool from which random beta testers will be
drawn. I guess every active acount will get this mail...

Forget anything in the emails. EVER.
Want to know if you get into the beta? Log into your account on
battle.net and look at your available games.
Does it show the beta? Then you got in.
No? Then you didn't.
End. Of. Story.
