Yup - the only frustrating thing you will come across via laptop is your
hotel's connection....and it has nothing to do with the price of the
hotel either. I've stayed at a Day's Inn where I got 96-110
latency...basically equal or better than at home, and I've stayed at a
family resort hotel at $480 a night where it jumped all over the place,
and esp from 6pm to 11pm when people were back in their rooms it was min
2-2400 latency. It even jumped to 22000 latencey at one
point...completely crazy. I'd suggest having a leveling alt to play in
case you get a hotel like the above. I was still able to quest and
level, but I had to bow out of my 10 man ICC raid nights while I was
there last week. I'd probably still be hitting Marrowgar while they had
already moved onto Deathwhisperer...

Just to expand on this, the quality of your connection to the WoW servers
isn't entirely in the hands of the hotel, either. That family resort might
have state of the art networking installed, and if their ISP has a lousy
backbone provider, or is just far away from the server you play on in the
topology of the network, there's not much to be done about it.

Also, a lot of multi-use facilities do what is called "traffic shaping",
giving priority to certain types of traffic over others, and they certainly
are going to prioritize email and web surfing over gaming if they do.
