Horde on Aerie Peak US are very poorly represented in WG compared to
Alliance. Almost every fight is 10-40 or worse, and the fort is rarely
taken due to everyone just trying to go toe-to-toe and getting stunned to
death. (Tenacity doesn't stop stuns.)
Here's Blizzard's claimed "solution":

I'm wondering what they mean about the lesser population "boycotting" WG.
It seems to me that that's about as likely as being able to herd cats.
Seems a decent solution to me, we'll see how it works.
No, not in my opinion. Firstly, we have battlegrounds with lower
numbers. I like the fact that Wintergrasp has huge numbers of players,
even if it causes lag. Secondly, this feature already exists in
battlegrounds, and caused loooooooong waits for the overpopulated
faction. Luckily, Blizzard also introduced the ability to queue for a
battleground at any time, which mitigated this a bit. Being able to
only join WG from a specific point in a capital city, and then find
you can't get in so you've wasted your time will be frustrating. The
change is great for the lower populated faction, but unless I'm
missing some information, is going to be annoying for the higher
population.
Why would it be annoying, when you don't get a fight if you vastly
outnumber the enemy anyway? Unless you find it fun to steamroller
people outnumbered 10 to 1, then why even be disappointed about not
getting in? I'd far rather actually get a fight when I get in, than
get in every time but have zero fun when I do, that's just pointless.
And my only pvping character is on the very very dominant side on my
server, so I'm not talking from the side of the lower pop faction
here.
Fair enough, but I'm speaking from a purely personal viewpoint. I'd
rather not have to travel to a capital, wait for the queue to open,
wait for the battle to start, then find I'm unable to join. And have
no idea if it'll be the same the next time, and the time after, etc. I
would find that annoying. The battles were very one sided in WG on my
realm (Horde dominate), but Horde get steamrolled enough in the other
battlegrounds on my battlegroup that I was happy to dish out a bit of
revenge for a change.
I'd rather everything was fairly balanced of course, but unsure how
Blizzard could manage that except by introducing faction neutral BGs.
Fair enough I guess, I'm hearthed in Dalaran anyway so it's not like
it's any great hardship to me to queue from there. A little annoying
not getting in, sure, but the promise of a decent fight would make it
worth it to me. Plus I suspect the other side would queue up far more
if they had a chance of winning, so you wouldn't miss out much after
the first few days.
