I don't know. They reduced the time to level from 70-80 when Wrath was
introduced.

But you needed one character at 80 before you could buy them. So I assume
there will be new heirloom items to be had at 85 that speed up levelling
from 80 to 85...

I'd imagine that they'd want the realm first level 85 achievement to start on an even footing too (well, even for everyone at level 80 at release)

I know that the heirlooms are technically available to everyone but they aren't available to the very small number of people who reach 80 with their first character shortly before the expansion is released.

If the aim of the game was to get to 85 first I'm fairly sure that +20% XP bonus would trump whatever stats you had on the two T10 pieces. ...
