First impressions of patch 3.3

So, having a two week old infant added to my RL "guild" I have been a bit
slack about checking out patch 3.3, however there are a few things I have
noticed so far:
- very few of my addons broke, most of those map and/or quest log related
which is not surprising. I just about have a replacement for Cartographer
and might patch Fubar_QuestFu down to a minimalised version for my needs
- I have done the three new dungeons in normal mode the same cross realm
group (starting in Forge of Souls and doing all three), I quite like the
new /LFG tool, though it could be a bit more verbose about its progress.
It took me about 5 minutes to find a group. I love the Shield, Heal and
DPS icons on the portraits showing the roles.
- I seem to be unable to whisper to people in my group that are from another
realm. If I right click on their portraits, the result is "No character
<charname>-<realm> is currently online". If I try it manually I get "No
character <charname> is currently online". I guess this could become even
more confusing if trying without the realm and finding out there *was*
a character with that name on my realm :-)
Does anyone know if Blizz is aware of this and plans to remedy it? It
would be nice to first privately discuss a "vote to kick" issue before
resorting to the actual vote.
- I was a bit disappointed by the story/graphics of the three dungeons,
I had expected a bit more out of that.
- Halls of Reflection could very easily become my new most hated instance
(both in normal and heroic (see below)), on my three visits (2x normal,
1x heroic) we have repeatedly wiped on both waves of 5 and especially on
the final run away from Arthas
- I made the mistake of listing myself interested in all three new heroic
insances and ended up in a PUG for HoR, next time I'll just list myself
for FoS. Anyway, we spent about two hours wiping through it. First two
wipes on the first wave of 5 due to two members who had never done the
instance before, then about 8 or 9 wipes on the escape. Once on the second
blockade, after that we always managed to get to the last one but the
closest we got to surviving was me battling the last "Stitches" down to
37% before finally dying. I fear I might need to find a good time to get
into a guild run :)
- getting Valiance rep (spilling over to Explorer's League and Forstborn)
when not wearing a tabbard is excellent
- the new quest objective tracking looks very nice, though I have to admit
it's taking things a bit far to have a lightweight Carbonite as part of
the default interface :)
- it's a shame they moved the new fishing contest from Wed night to Sat
afternoon
Any other observations?
Cheers
Urbin
