Dunno about that, we didn't have much luck with rings and running with 2

one ring each in the end but could've happily taken 2 each. I'm not
after the mount either, anyway, only the achievements, just can't be
bothered farming for a stupid low droprate thing that has a time limit
on it, that's too much like work.

He drops 2 mounts; there's the broom which only works during Hallow's
End, but which isn't learned, and there's the actual horse mount which
is learned and usable all year.

Yeah, I was meaning the permanent one, we had one of the brooms drop, I
made my bf take it for his warlock, seems suitable for a warlock to ride
a broom ;-)

I've got the broom, its abilities scale with you're riding/flying
level and location, so I can use it as an epic mount in the old world,
and an epic flier in the new. It's slower than my VPD though. One
thing I like about it is that its small - the VPD is a pain for me to
get close to an NPC or resource node on.

Argh yes, I've been using the green protodrake all year until I got the
violet one and it seems to have an awkward hitbox - it's really hard to
land accurately on rocks and mountains for mining, while my druid's nice
small flightform has zero trouble. Getting inside Naxx tends to be a
challenge also, since the protodrake onoy *just* fits through the gapo,
and gets stuck even where it looks like it should fit.

Shame, they look really cool but they're pretty awkward - given the nice
speed I'll be using the violet protodrake for a long time though, unless
Blizz ever implement allowing 310% speed to carry over to all epic
flyers once you own one that fast (sure I read about that recently, was
in reference to druid flightform primarily but with a possibility of
working on ordinary mounts also)

The horse drops at 0.4%, according to Wowhead. I've heard 1% from
other sources.

Curiously, there is one other item that drops even less; the "Tome of
Thomas Thomson" which gives a very minor quest. Wowhead claims it
drops at 0.1%. I got the tome this week. I'd much prefer the mount.

It's really that low droprate? Got it the first time I ran there, just
assumed it was a first time thing, maybe i was lucky then!
