Bug/Feature of Dual Specs


I just noticed yesterday that the chainlightning spell on my
Elemental/Resto shaman's action bar was two ranks lower than the
highest rank he knew. I looked through more of the spells on the
action bars and found that a lot of them were "downranked" to varying
degree's.
While I haven't had a chance to test it, I'm pretty sure I know what's
going on. Since a patch possibly even before TBC, Spells on action
bars automatically have their rank changed when you learn a new rank,
but *only* if they were at the previous maximum rank. If you'd down
ranked it, it wouldn't get its rank changed.
Where this comes in, is that is seems that when you learn new ranks of
spells, it only auto-updates the ranks of spells on your current
action bars and not the action bars of your alternate spec. And since
my Shaman sometimes trained while elemental and sometimes while resto
(having dinged during an instance) a majority of her spells weren't at
their maximum rank.
I suspect my lack lustre dps with my recent runs as elemental were due
more to having a chainlighting two ranks lower than I knew than from
being out of practice with that character and spec.

I'm actually a bit surprised that I haven't already heard about this
happening to other people.
