I predict: somehow somebody will blame the game for this man's criminal
misbehavior.

Oh, for certain....
A couple of years ago, I recall someone in South Korea dying after
playing in an internet cage for 47 hour straight. Immedaitely, stories
popped up about the safety of online gaming.
Do ANYTHING that requires sitting in a chair for 47 straight hours,
and you risk blood clots in your legs. This happens to people after a
10 hour plane ride, do people blame the pilot? NOOOOOOOO, but let it
happen while some idiot plays on a computer without the sense God gave
a turtle, naley to get up and move every now and again, and it's all
because of EVUL computer games.
