Completely agree - the tank does need to maintain a reasonable amount
of aggro on all the mobs. Dropping a multishot every now and then
shouldn't be an issue. Burning 11 cooldowns and launching an AoE 3
seconds into a fight when you know you've got a warrior tank is not a
failure of the warrior tank, though.

Tanks have to be situationally aware enough to pick up adds, know
where all the pats and mobs are, etc. Healers have to watch out for
the health of a number of characters, heal through crits, enrage
timers, AoE, etc. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the DPS
to be aware of the CLASS of the tank. :)

Usually yes. Pulling aggro off a tank has become so hard that us DPS can
even get away becoming sloppy in a way we could never have in vanilla wow
and BC.

Absolutely. During some heroic runs, I was actively trying to pull
aggro off the (correct) focus target. I concluded that it wasn't
going to happen unless I somehow managed to hugely outgear the tank.
It may also have something to do with the fact that he's been tanking
since day 1 and can do it in his sleep, but...

Hehe, exactly the reason why I'm reluctant to heal with my priest :)

Before I tanked UK with a group of 7xs - basically a level appropriate
group - I pulled the first two Vrykul and killed 'em while I was
waiting for the group to arrive. I knew the instance wouldn't be a
big challenge to get the group through, assuming I could manage to
keep aggro. From what I've seen so far, death knight tanking is
basically "drop Death and Decay, then beat the hell out of something,
rotate IBF/UA as needed" which is basic enough that I can probably
handle it. I need to get better at tracking all the mobs, and just
get my fingers in the habit of going for Strangulate, Dark Command,
etc - all the stuff I rarely use solo, and never use as DPS...

In theory, I think I know what I'm doing. In reality...
