Yes. They explicitely stated that.

What they didn't say was that the last patch before the expansion is 6
gigabytes ;-)

But you won't have access to the two new
races (gnomes, worgen) nor the new instances (I assume) or the new
profession (archeology). Your level cap will be frozen at 80 but you should
probably be ok to enter the new zones as well, though I'm not sure on that...

Yes that's an interesting point - I hope they will allow them to enter,
not because I don't plan on getting it but because I hate it when you
have to go through a portal, like how you get to ghostlands say.

So what if a few players without the expansion go around and kill some
mobs which wont give them experience. Not a problem.
