The new epic gem transmutes have turned what was a very poor choice of
mastery into a very attractive one. My mage alt was a transmute
master at 70 but switched to elixirs at 80, as I was disappointed both
by the proc rate and value of the transmutation endproducts. However,
since 3.2 he has paid to relearn the transmute specialism and I
haven't regretted it. Has anyone else with transmute mastery noticed
a very tasty proc rate? In just over a week I have had three big
procs, the first was five Majestic Zircons, the second four King's
Amber and the third four Cardinal Ruby. If I wasn't planning on
actually using those gems I'd be rolling in it...
Nice. I have transmuted 5 times (I have not played everyday since the
patch), and it procced once : I get two jewel (don't remember which it
was).
I'm not seeing a particularly high proc rate for creating duplicates,
but almost everytime I do an epic gem transmute, I seem to discover
another lower level transmite.
Lucky for some, no discoveries yet on my alchemist! Having said that I'm
not sure I have a huge number remaining to discover, maybe i already
know most of them. Will have to check AckisRecipeList next time I log
him, I know I miss all the TBC flasks and I'm hoping they're
discoverable off WotLK crafting, if so I'll spam elixirs a bit sometime.
According to AckisRecipeList I know all the WotLK transmutes, thanks to a
daily transmute just to discover them all. I am still missing 2 BC
transmutes and have kept up the daily transmute for about three weeks
without discovering them. I then reverted back to mote/primal transmutes,
assuming the BC discoveries might only happen on BC transmutes but also no
luck for almost four weeks running now. I am starting to doubt whether those
two transmutes really exist, one of these days I'll take the time to look it
up :)
A few of the TBC transmutes were available from quartermasters at
around the revered level as I recall. Sporeggar and the Nagrand peeps
spring to my mind as ones I recently worked at on my warrior as a bit
of completionism.
The ones I am missing are explicitely listed as "discovery" by
AckisRecipeList, so either their data is wrong or I am extremely unlucky.
I'll need to verify when I can remember to look it up.
Cheers
