BTW, the epic gems are a total money tree at the moment; everyone who
can afford to is regemming, and the profit is 100-200g for each raw
gem, and the same again for each cut gem on top of that.
Lucky for some, on my server there's little to no profit in cutting the
gems, if there was I'd be buying up raw ones but... some cuts you can
make 20-30g, others are cheaper than the raw gem, hmm. My server's had
an overload of jewelcrafters right through WotLK though, I gave up on
trying to get a profit out of it for some time because there were too
many power sellers. Luckily for me, they've all moved onto epic gems,
leaving the blue and green gems market open for me to move back in, and
I'm now making a profit for the first time in months ;-)
It just goes to show how the economy on different realms can be
radically different. On my realm raw gems are selling for around 180g
and cut gems are around 300g.
Wow nice! Some gems list at 300g on mine, but they aren't cuts I know,
plus they're also not ones I'd expect much market from so I'm not
convinced they actually *sell* for that... my suspicion Is more that
there's just a lack of supply on those cuts so the price hasn't been
driven down with undercutting yet.
Although some cuts surprise me, my best selling one is solid majestic
zircon, and given you can barely give the lower solid cuts away for the
price of the raw gem... more than a little surprised how well those are
selling. They're worth more than even *red* gems, which shocks me tbh -
sure I realise tanks will like them but I didn't think they'd be that
popular.
