What will that mean for low level players? Are they never going to see
the world as we saw it while levelling? Or will the old world be phased
out for us? No going back to do old quests for the Loremaster and
grinding old factions, then?
If this is what Blizzard is planning, they need to let us know as soon
as possible so that existing players can grind out as much as they can
 before these changes take effect.
That is something I would decidedly hate. Even though I do not spend a lot
of time in the old world, every once in a while I go through there and
really like to reminisce about my levelling days.

Besides, if my level 80 char no longer had access to the starting areas in
Dun Morogh (just speculating, I know it wouldn't necessarily be these
zones), how would I then powerlevel skinning or mining, should I ever decide
to switch professions, after having gone through the even that launches the
phasing of these zones...

Interesting point here, does phasing affect gathering or does it
affect only quest related content?

Everywhere where phasing and gathering meet has the same level of
herbs/mines in all phases as far as I know.  It's only in Northrend and
Undercity that I can think of (but I don't know the alliance areas).

If it does, it is certainly
something Blizzard needs to work on.  Mining is not too bad as you can
buy ore at the AH to save time leveling but gathering or skinning you
have to go to the field, the auction house won't help there.

They won't get rid of the low level gathering nodes... they can't leave
new players without them.

I wasn't suggesting that they would, just wondering how phasing will
affect older players being able to access those nodes if those players
later decide to change professions.  For example at level 5 you get
skinning and start skinning wolves. If you were level 40 and changed
professions, in a phased zone would that wolf still be around for you
to skin

At least in Northrend, the same herb nodes are visible to all players,
regardless of phase. But you cant see gatherers in other phases, and
its possible to have nodes suddenly vanish when a player in another
phase gathers the node.
