Someone offering "downtime insurance" The idea is you pay these
people a monthly fee and, if your WoW server goes down, they pay for
your downtime.
I can't look at any of the specifics on it right now, such as how much
it costs, what constitutes "down time" (as I suspect regular Tuesday
maintenance probably doesn't count else these people would be paying
out to all their customers every week), and if they break it down to
hours or minutes of downtime, or if they count specific downtimes such
as if Northrend goes down, but the rest of the realm is unaffected.
Thing is, WoW servers are relatively stable. Relatively in the sense
that when they do go down, they normally come back up within minutes.
I can't imagine the servers ever going down long enough for me to
recoup whatever fee I would have to pay for this "insurance". And,
considering Blizzard already gives us game time credit for periods of
problems, I'm already getting compensated, and I'd likely end up
losing money overall if I chose to have someone insure my game time.
I say its a scam.
