I wonder about my server. These days people won't even take you into
raids/heroics when your average DPS is below 2000.
As a healer, I only get cranky when someone is still pulling 1200-1300
or less dps. What I find shocking is the large gap in observed high
end and low end dps at level 80. I pugged an 80 lock the other day
that was doing 850, while I've seen a DK do 2900. Average seems to be
about 1700, but the variance is unbelievable...
Hmm, on what are you basing those dps observations? Single bossfights
without movement involved? Because my dps meters hardly ever show 2k+
figures, in heroics 1.5k is as good as anybody gets over the length of
the instance and most are 1-1.2k. And this is folk geared up in heroic
gear, not greens. Very curious in what circumstances 2k is the norm to
be expected!
Thanks, Catriona, I am relieved.
I am 80 and have just replaced my last level 70 epic with a level 80 blues.
About half of my items are iLevel 187 blues (thanks for the achievement to
give a quick overview), the rest are blues with slighlty lower iLevel.
My tries with Recap/Recount showed that I do about 1050 dps while questing,
I guess fully buffed that number would be slightly higher, but nowhere near
1800dps. My main shot rotation is still steady shot/auto shot, refreshing
Hunter's Mark and Serpent Sting in between. My steady shot does about 1000
damage (when raid buffed) and my autoshot is around 800 damage. But as I
deliver less than one shot a second, only my pet's damage helps me to get
above 1000dps.
I know that equipment makes a difference, as well as shot rotation and spec.
Still, I've been wondering what kind of gear I would need to improve my dps
by a factor of 1.5. The next step will be running 5-man heroics to get all
slots filled with an iLevel 187 blue, but I doubt if that will be enough.
A few days ago I was in a group who did the wintergrasp raid boss, we first
did the 10 man version and easily got him down in 5 minutes. We then tried
the 25 man version and got him down to about 23% before the enrage in the
first try (the second try was aborted because the wintergrasp timer
expired). Somebody said that the average dps needed to get him down in time
was 1800dps. So obviously I need to be gear up a lot for him or just forget
about it... I still don't have the time budget to raid regularly, so I'll be
restricted to occasional 10-man raids, 5-man heroics and maybe a rare 25-man
fun run in which I won't be able to pull my weight...
Cheers
