World of Warcraft actually uses a relatively small amount of RAM, compared
to other games.  When running it, Windows Task Manager tells me it's using
about 130MB.  Assuming you have no other applications running, 512MB RAM
would be *ample* to run the game.  I believe the bottleneck is elsewhere.

Then perhaps you are running in low resolutions or with low detail or
you're in different areas to me or something, since my copies of WoW
take 500-800MB for each instance when I'm in Northrend. Add the
overhead required by your operating system, and you'll need at least
1GB for smooth operation.

I can run 5 copies of WoW simultaneously and I get a little swapping.
I have 4GB RAM, running on Vista 64.

I went to the computer store and they told me that they didn't have
PC2100 but rather only PC2700 and as such the computer was 90% chance
to scale down on to the 2100 because it was possible that was all the
MB could take

didn't actually get it looked at but had popped a stick out and showed
them

I now have 2 sticks of PC2700 1gigs into my machine and it runs at
8-16 fps in Dalaran in regular busy hours

I was told by a guildie that does tech support that a video card
upgrade was possible but really that could be adding dead money into a
machine that would be cheaper to just rebuild

it's running fine on lower custom settings ... I set everything to
almost low detail and it's faster on loading and moving

used to get 1-2 fps in Dalaran before this memory upgrade

I'm using an AGP video card

the best one I could fine was a Sapphire ATI Gadeon 8200 (might be
someother number) 512mb 8x AGP video card

went for 166+tax

if I do drop that into my machine ... whats the chances I'm going to
need a new power supply? and what's a good base min for that?

they have 500W power supplies for about 100+tax ... anything
higher ... like say a 850W will run me around 200+tax- Hide quoted text -
