Are there any for sale on your AH? Were there any sold? If so, what was

The reason I ask is that I'm trying to sell one on my server. A few times a
day ( every few hours, not spammed! ), I list it in the trade channel.
Every time, I get pst by people asking how much. Usually I get 3-4 people
asking. My experience has been 50% LOL me and call me names and say I'll
never sell it, while the other 50% wish they had the gold or ask me if I can
hold it for them until they save enough gold. IMHO, it's the coolest mount
out there but it just happens to be expensive. If Blizz wanted everyone to
have one, they wouldn't be as difficult to make or have expensive vendor
only parts. You can't farm it up. (although I have some guy that responds
every time telling me I'm stupid because he knows how to get the "vendor
only" parts off of mechanical NPC drops. I think he is full of it, afaik)
The cost to make varies by server AH economies but the 12.5g required to buy
the vendor only parts is a given on every server. Add to that 12 titansteel
bars ( with a 20 hr cd if you make them yourself ), 2 arctic furs and 40
cobalt bolts. On my server, the non vendor mats cost me just under 5k at
the AH. The 12 titansteel were about 350g ea, and the cobalt and furs made
up the rest. I forget their actual AH cost of the furs and cobalt atm.
The only reason I'm trying to sell it is because I had 19.4k when I started
the process, spent 1k gold leveling eng from 445 to 450, bought the plans,
bought all the parts and made the hog. But then realized I was flat broke!
So I'm gonna sell this one until I have a little gold cushion to build
another one for myself and still have some gold left for raiding and the
sort.
I'm asking 19k for it, with a 21k buyout. I know it ain't cheap, but
neither was the 18k mammoth I see around Dalaran. But again, if it was
cheap and/or easy to make, everyone would have one.
So it cost about 18k to make and I've been trying to sell it for 19k for
about a week. I'm not making any money and think that most people really
don't know what it costs or takes to make one. If it doesn't sell by the
time I have a 2k gold bank account, I'll very happy to keep it for myself..
I'm certainly not lowering the price, especially considering the AH will
take 1900 off the top and make me lose 900g in the deal. I don't HAVE to
sell it.
Am I silly waiting for it to sell? I've been told it goes for 25g on other
servers. I'm just curious what people here have to say.
My experience with various BoE crafted epics has been that players who
want that item will ultimately purchase the mats themselves, then pay
a crafter a tip to take the mats and craft it for them, rather than
search the AH for it.
Even for some of the more rare non-epic items. Case in point, the
Robes of Arcana. Low drop rate tailoring pattern, only found on mobs
in alliance zones, making it very rare for horde players. Warlocks
have a quest that involves obtaining those robes, either by making
them yourself, or buying them from someone else. Even though the
robes are available on the AH for 10-15g, the mats are much cheaper to
purchase, and lots of players would rather purchase the mats, then
give a tailor 1 or 2g to make it for them.
Also, if you are level 80, don't worry about the gold so much. Quests
are awarding around 13g each. Finish questing and you'll make a good
bit of that gold back. As for the mount, keep it for yourself, and
spam trade with offers to make it. You can link the schematic into
trade so players can see what they need to make it. Let them gather
the mats themselves, then come to you and pay you a tip to craft it.
Yes, you'll get some assholes who don't tip, but you'll also get some
who tip generously to even it out. You won't get 1 big payday by
spending 15k and getting a 20k return when its sold, but you will make
a profit.
Another question is what your 2nd profession is? If your 2nd
profession can provide mats for the mount, heavily advertise the
mount, while selling the mats on the AH.
