Re: How do I <sigh> reinstall WoW from scratch?

Will the following procedure work?:

1. Completely uninstall my current WoW installation by using the
Add/Remove Programs tool in the Windows Control Panel. Then
manually remove files/directories left behind during the
uninstallation (if any).

WoW is, fortunately, a very non-intrusive program. Its installer unpacks
program files into the WoW directory and then installs shortcuts and a
single entry in the registry to remember what directory the program was
installed in. (It's just a line of text. It's to help 3rd party programs
find WoW, and isn't used by the game itself.)

To quickly uninstall, delete the WoW folder, delete the shortcuts (desktop,
Start menu, and any new ones you made), and ignore the registry entry. (It
will get replaced when you reinstall, and is harmless to leave behind.)

You can also move the entire WoW folder to another computer. No special
installation required.

When you reinstall, I highly recommend putting it in a directory NOT under
Program Files. Make it a directory with no spaces in the name to make it
easier to type later. I put mine in C:\Games\WoW. (All my games are under
C:\Games.) This also allows WoW to save its settings in its own directories
when you're not running as Administrator. (Only users in the Administrators
and Power Users groups are allowed to write to stuff under Program Files.)
