Re: How do I <sigh> reinstall WoW from scratch?

It is a bitter pill to swallow, but I think I have to reinstall WoW.

I have played WoW for about three years and have never had a single
problem with it, until a couple of days ago. All of a sudden WoW
became somewhat sluggish with random crashes and 'Error 132' messages.
Something caused the game to start behaving erratically and it seems
impossible to get it back on track again. When i try to run the repair
tool it only says: "The amount of data required to repair World of
Warcraft is too large. Please reinstall".

I have the original discs in perfect condition, and the Game Manual
with the Authentication Key printed on it. The same for TBC. I have
all the patches backed up on an external USB 2.0 HDD.

I seem to recall that I have seen a web page somewhere out there with
very detailed step by step instructions about reinstalling WoW from
scratch, but I can't seem to find it when I need it the most.

So my question is: How do I reinstall everything...the "easy" way?

Anything else worth trying in order to get WoW back to normal again
without reinstalling?

I would check the WoW Technical Support information first and find out
what your particular brand of error comes from. It may not be a
problem with the game install at all.
My laptop gets Error 132 often on my older laptop when the video card
gets too hot.

On the re-install of WoW. Wow does not employ any registry files, so
the easiest way to "re-install" WoW is to have a clean backup of your
full WoW directory (after all patching) on another drive. Then if you
have any problems with your WoW install, uninstall, copy backup files
to your hard drive and you are on the ground running much faster.
Even if you do not want to refresh your backup with each patch, you
can at least copy the patch files to your backup drive to eliminate
the need to download the whole file again.
