Well, at about 10:30 Eastern time (thats 7:30 Pacific time for all
those idiots I saw on the official forums complaining at 2 eastern
that the realms weren't up) I was finally able to log in and select a
character and enter the world.
Upon logging in, I noticed something odd, my breath bar was on the
screen and indicated I was at half breath. After a few seconds, it
went away. Guess my character was holding his breath during the
upgrade.
Next thing I notice is my chat window had completely filled up with
new orange text, all the achievements I had previously completed were
showing up. The very last one to appear told me I had earned the
title of Ambassador. I remembered there was an achievement for
getting exalted with all 5 horde or alliance factions, but I forgot
that it came with a title. So I changed my title from the easily
obtained 'of the Shattered Sun' to the much more well deserved title
of Ambassador.
Next up, I open my new mount/pet interface. I see my dreadsteed and
felsteed are already there waiting for me. I start 'learning' all my
other mounts. At 10 mounts, I got a new achievement. Then I notice
that the macro I used for mounting appeared broken. The macro I have
automatically summons my netherdrake when I'm in a place I can fly,
and if I can't fly, summons my dreadsteed. So I do a little
investigating. Turns out that when you use the item to learn a mount
spell, it changes the name of the spell used to summon the mount. For
example, Reins of the Onyx Netherdrake used to summon my netherdrake,
and my macro used /cast Reins of the Onyx Netherdrake. However, after
actually using the Reins, in my mount spellbook it just say Onyx
Netherdrake. I had to change my macro to say /cast Onyx
Netherdrake. /cast Summon Dreadsteed became just /cast Dreadsteed.
So then I move on to my pets. Pre-patch I had traveled the world
picking up pets, since now I would have room for them. I learn my
first pet, I get an achievement. I get another achievement at 15
pets. And I get a third at 25 pets.
I then check one last thing, the new Currency tab. Its something I
have been wanting for quite some time, except its not as extensive as
I would like it. It automatically put my badges of justice, and all
my BG marks, into the currency tab. I feel they should expand this.
I think any soulbound 'currency' should be added to that list. Marks
of Halaa and Halaa Research Tokens for example. Apexis Crystal Shards
maybe? Marks of Thrallmar/Honor Hold? That would go to increase bag
space just as well as putting badges and BG marks there. Still, I
like it.
Now I move on to my talents. I decide to go with my trusted old
standby, Affliction. I dumped nearly all my talent points into
affliction, putting only 5 into demo for Demonic Embrace (which no
longer decreases spirit). Instead of heading straight to the trainer
to get new ranks of UA and Haunt, I head out into Terokkar just to
give a little test drive. I immediately notice that all the mobs
around shat appear to be dead. Corpses everywhere, everyone else
doing the same thing I was. Found a lone level 62 wolf. I lead off
with haunt (rank 1), then CoA, Siphon Life, and Corruption. Didn't
even cast UA. Life tapped once, clicked drain life, but didn't even
get a tick out of it before the wolf died. I need some stronger mobs.
From there I head back into shat, take the portal to UC (the UC portal
drops you off steps away from the warlock, priest, and mage trainers)
and train 2 new ranks of UA and 1 new rank of haunt. I hearth back
and head out to Skettis. Skettis has some level 71 mobs, and I didn't
look far for them either. I got out my felhunter to give him a test
drive, since I took the new Imp Felhunter talent. I pulled a level 71
water elemental, lead off with haunt, then UA, then CoA, then Siphon
Life, then Corruption. Hit Life Tap, mob died before I could drain
life, Haunt healed me for the little damage the mob was able to cause
in the short fight. I ended with full health and mana and never even
used Drain Life. I need some stronger mobs.
I start investigating some other stuff. I notice my FSW is 'nerfed' a
bit with the change to spell power. I couldn't remember the old
numbers for the shadow and frost power, but the new numbers were
definitely lower. However, since its just spell power now, it buffs
my fire damage as well. My poor fire damage was about 700ish pre-
patch, now its at about 1100. Even though I am affliction spec, its
nice to have those fast cast instant damage spells like Searing Pain
(used that on sparks from Curator, and demon chains on Illhoof) be
able to do some actual damage.
I notice the tooltip for Fel Armor is different than what the patch
notes said. Patch notes said FA only buffs spell damage by 30% of
your spirit. The tooltip however said 'Increases spell damage by 100
plues 30% of your total spirit, and regenerates 2% of your maximum
health per second.' If that is how its really working, thats not too
bad of a change. However, I didn't get to play with that, I was going
to click off the buff and compare my unbuffed spell damage with my
buffed spell damage to see what I was actually getting, as the server
went down. Waited for 10 minutes hoping it would come back, but it
didn't.
I switched servers, to my old server, where I have a 68 lock I haven't
played in quite some time. I used him to check out the achievements
interface. Being 68 and hardly played, he didn't have nearly as much
as my other warlock must have. Still, it was nice to get familiar
with the interface. I noticed with him I had a Feat of Strength,
since I had earned the title of Sergeant with him pre-2.0.
I then hop a flight to Shattrath, and take the portal to Org. I
wanted to check out the new zep tower. I ride out of Org and notice a
new empty area just outside. Not sure what this is supposed to be.
There used to be rocks and stuff here, now its just paved smooth, with
2 guards standing at it. Past that I see the Zepplin tower. Not much
else to really see, so I hearthed and logged out. Was kinda tired, so
I went to bed at this point.
Hopefully my realm will be back up today. I want to see what I have
achieved with my main warlock, as I know I have done a lot more with
him than I have with my old warlock. I also wanted to go check out
glyphs, check the AH for prices and such. I had planned to do that,
as I saw all sorts of glyphs being advertised in Trade. But the
server problems prevented me from doing that. And I really need to
find some stronger mobs.
Ok, I didn't get much of a chance to play last night as my server kept
going down, but I got a couple of achievements from mounts and pets
and such, and for the life of me, couldn't find out where to see all
my achievements... checked the character tab, rep tabs, pet tabs,
currency tab, talents, etc. etc... How/where do I see all my
achievement and possible titles? Is there a keyboard shortcut to it?
(Like N for talents and such?)
