This of course means, that my chances of seeing a specifc item drop is much
smaller than that of other players. I won't be able to rerun a certain
instance to farm for the [Uber Ring of Healage]. That is fine, I accept that
I won't necessarily get it. Bit if the [Mediocre Ring of some Damage and
Healing] drops and it is a noticeable improvement over my current [Crap Ring
of practically nothing], then I think it is nothing but fair that I get to
roll on it. And I grant others the same right. As long as it's an upgrade,
you get to roll on it.

I think the problem of crap geared healers rolling on dps gear because
it's still a healing upgrade comes more into play when you're looking
at places like Kara that are on a relatively long reset.

A fair point that I didn't think of.

[Snip good arguments I can agree to]

This is getting into the area of why DKP systems get used.

True, and rightly so. However, I assume DKP is only used in raids (be it
Kara/ZA or 25 man raids) with a more or less regular group of attendants.
Anyone raiding seriously enough to warrant using DKP no longer fits me
"casual player" argument above :-)

I don't think a healer should ever be rolling on a dps item unless the
dps didn't mind.

As I said. I *always* ask, even if I'm the caster dps and the item is the
caster dps item. This is AFAICT the single most efficient way to avoid loot
drama.

I was just objecting to the plain "a healer *must* never roll on a dps
item". I think it warrants at least a discussion, the outcome of which may
or may not be that he can roll (or not).

_Especially_ if they don't play very often. Sort of like, "I need that
ring so my armory profile looks better" rather than because they'll
actually be putting it to good use.

Well, I reckon that I still put my items to good use, even if I play <8
hours a week.

Cheers
Urbin, who so far hasn't ninjad anything (*phew*)
