www.astraweb.com works good for me at home. $10/month, but retention
time and # of groups carried is far superior to the ISP provided
servers. When I'm at work (which is when I browse this group 99.9% of
the time anyways) Google Groups works ok.

I'd recommend astraweb too. And you don't even have to do a montly plan.
You can pay a one-time fee for a certain amount of download. That's what I
did and it takes a while to use up all the space, assuming you don't
download actual files and such.
I Agree.

I have been using astraweb for a couple of weeks due to Isp groups support
going toes up.
$10US for 25 gig unlimited time, I really prefer prepaid nonsubscription ,
my use can vary
greatly.

Had a tad of a problem with rego after paying not proceeding after popups
enabled -blank cart-
but one email fixed it within the 24 hr support turnaround.
Delay probably due to me kicking it of from tomorrow morning their time.

It seems fine.
Apart from wondering and finding it silently ignores if you reply more than
2 crossposts.
Not a big problem usually, it stops me replying to things I probably
shouldn't :-)
Just do a catchup on large groups at first, large backlogs of headers can
choke some readers.
loading 500MB of old headers at 4x my ISP rate was a rather encouraging
start.
I wondered tthat he use page didn't count that header loading against use,
turns out that only article bodies downloaded are counted, not uploads or
headers.
Whoee, 2 mb this week, this may take some time to get through :-)
