Re: Anyone started seeing casino characters appear?

You're right. Obviously, the casino will have an edge in almost every
game (I can name two that they don't), but your example with roulette

Which ones are those? The only casino game I can think of that fits your description is Blackjack, and that's only if the player can count cards. For a non-card counter, the casino *does* have an edge (and card counters get booted).

is right on. It's a losing proposition no doubt but obviously people
will play it hoping for the big payouts and the general fun of
gambling. I just thought it amusing that the whole 56 or higher is a
glaringly obvious bad bet and should be avoided. At least at a
casino, I can lose money and still feel like I had some fun. Merely
typing /roll and losing 25G would give me no sense of fun or
entertainment at all.

"That glorious 30 seconds while the wheel is still spinning." - Albert Stroller, character from the show "Hustle"

I remember it as "those", not "that", but it still gets the point across. For people who enjoy gambling, there's probably a lot of adrenaline in those 30 seconds.

Also, of course, you *will* win some of the time. You not only hear about other people winning - they win in your presence. And if you try it, several times, you will win a few times. For the very math-iliterate, it might look as if can be profitable to gamble.
