I vote for easier mobs. I think the main reason the old high-end
instances are skipped is simply because Outland at level 58 is so
much better for loot & XP. People still run Deadmines, because
there's no Outland content for those levels pulling people away.
If Scholo/Strat/UBRS/LBRS/DM, maybe ST had their mobs levels
reduced about 5 levels (and quest levels lowered too), more
groups would probably run them.
I don't think so. If ST is not run at 55, why would it be run at 50?
The only way to make people go back to the old instances would probably be:
- force them there through attunement or class specific quests
(pally/warlock mount anyone?)
- add a heroic version that drops loot appropriate for the level cap
(will heroic SL still be aimed at 70s or will it be revamped for level 80
players? I think it would make sense that the "normal" instance is tuned
to a certain level (as is the case today) and the "heroic" version would
be aimed at the current level cap (so 70 with BC, 80 with WotLK, 90 with
"Warcraft: the Emerald Dream" (speculating here :-) etc
- add a tuned down version so they can be run solo at their intended level.
of course this would mean the bosses not dropping the usual blue loot but
at least people could do the instances solo to finish all those quests
that require instance runs. My leveling alts would love to do those
instances but never find the people. If I could do them solo just to
finish the quests, that would be great.
However:
- I'm not sure option 1 is such a great one, because it won't really make
those dungeons more popular, there will just be more people who
desperately need to go to an instance nobody wants to go to
- I'm not sure option 3 is such a great one, as it will spread the people
running heroics out across an even larger number of instances, making
it even harder finding groups
- Option 3 is probably pretty tricky and would take a lot of effort, not
sure Blizz is going to spend so much time on old stuff (similar problem
to making Azeroth "flyable")
Ah well, as I've been playing long enough I remember the days when those old
world instances were the top challenge, I've seen all of the level 50+ ones
in groups and in the meantime visited all the others solo with my 70 chars
except for the one in Orgrimmar, though I still plan to go there one of
these days.
