It is _usually_ * disproportionately costly and just hard f'n work for the payout this week

That depends entirely on the class. My Hunter had a *lot* of fun
soloing level 62 Elites at 60. Of course, since I couldn't commit the
time to raid, there wasn't a whole lot else she could do, other than
BGs ;-)
