If you earned one before
the change, you kept the highest rank you achieved after the change
and can choose to have this rank displayed in front of your name.

This is a vanity plate and means absolutely nothing.

Only charactes who never had a rank are denied the opportunity to earn
a title.

Like I said, eliminated.

That being said, I never bothered to pay attention to if the BG leader
had a rank or not. I would suspect that in the case where no one has
a battleground title, they would use some other factor, possibly most
lifetime HK's.

Friend of mine was Grand Marshall. He pvps in AV, but he has his bg
joiner set to wait until the timer is down to 30 seconds before he
joins, so he is almost always one of the last 10 or so in. He's never
leader. The leader is always the person in group 1 slot 1. Since he
knows every person that was a GM, he would notice if that was always
some other GM, it's not.

Alright, I didn't dispute, as I didn't know for sure, who gets put
into the leader spot.

What I did say was the ranks were not eliminated, they are still there
and if you earned one, you can choose to display it. The choice is
default to not show however, so it takes someone going into their
character tab and selecting it to be displayed.

If they were removed from the game, then people who had already earned
one would not be able to choose to display it. The only thing they
removed from the game was the ability to earn one.
