As others have said, you can't reset the instance, it resets by itself.
There is a button called Raidinfo on your Social panes Raid tab that will
show you which instances you're saved and when they will reset. I think
/raidinfo should work too.

And saving to a raid is per character, so alts should be able to get in
if they themselves have not been saved. But usually it's expected that
you'll only join a raid if you're not saved to an instance. (That's why
many guilds don't like guildies to join a non-guild raid for an instance
that they are doing themselves too, because that locks the character
from helping them until the next reset.)
