A few years ago I began having nothing but problems with Norton's.
When I tried to uninstall it, the uninstallation failed and left me
with nothing but constant errors saying I needed to uninstall then
reinstall. Hey, that's what I was trying to do!

After an hour or so of Google'ing and hitting up the Symantec support
website trying anything that was suggested I found the only way to fix
the problem: reinstall Windows making sure to not let Norton's near my
CD drive this time. Problem solved.

Ack. I've never tried uninstalling as I never needed to, still works
fine so I'll leave well alone I think! Having just discovered a
computer supplier that still gives XP as an option I'm now seriously
considering a new PC anyway, so I'll just wait until I change PC to
drop Norton, seems easier than risking having to reinstall Windows ;-)

Luckily, now they have tools to remove it. Well, two years ago, it was
three tools. One that uninstalled the program, then a .bat to remove some
files that were still there, and the last one to delete somes keys in the
register. Last time I had to remove a version of Norton, last year I think,
it was only one "remove" programm, that can be found somewhere on their
website.
