Re: When did you "get it"?

My question is this: When did you "get it"? How long did it take you to
figure WOW and its economy out?

Maybe it's because I played many RPG computer games before, and played the
paper and pencil kind for a long time before that, but more or less the
first day. The first time you get a random green drop you realize that the
vendor weapons are there for color only. There were profession trainers
right outside the kindergarten zone. A little curiosity is all that was
needed to figure out how stuff worked. I didn't discover the auction house
for another day when I first entered a capital city, but the guard told me
about it and I went to check it out (after trying to get to ironforge the
hard way incidentally, seeing those imps on the path out of redridge taught
me that monsters with a skull on them are deadly).

All I can think is that your friend has a terminal lack of curiosity. The
game slaps you over the head with how it works, but some heads must be
harder than others.

I recently looked up my characters on warcraftrealms, because I was
thinking I had just passed the two year mark (turned out I had, on 10/11).
I was amused to discover that all three of my main characters were started
out in the first week I played, and two of them were past level 20 in the
first ten days. Man I must have played a lot. *
