Text-shadowing problem in UI...

Since the patch, text in my UI and the onscreen chat sections has had
an odd and new (to me, anyway) problem- all text now casts 'shadows'
underneath them. The shadows are 'behind' and slightly offset from the
text itself, I'm sure most of you have seen such offset text shadowing
in other windows environments, before. But I have never seen it in WoW
before. And I most distinctly don't like it. It makes the text look
fuzzy, and does nothing to improve its readability.
I turned off all mods and restarted the game, that did nothing to
help. So it is not the result of any mod. I scoured the interface
options, advanced interface options, and video options for any setting
or checkbox that could remotely be related to this new text shadowing
phenomena, but found nothing. I asked some of my guildies if they saw
this text shadowing in their games, they did not. I had truetype font-
smoothing turned on for my regular Windows desktop, so I turned that
off too- still no joy (the truetype smoothing in Windows had never had
any affect on WoW text before, so that was a big stretch anyway). So
I'm at a loss as to what I can do to undo this text shadowing problem,
and get back to normal-looking text again.
Any ideas? Is this a new 'feature' with the patch, that I can toggle
off somehow? Some bug specific to just me? (gawd, I hope not!) If
anyone else has run across this text-shadowing in WoW, since the last
patch, and figured out how to disable it, please share, Thanks in
advance!
