My 20th level Dwarven Hunter has a Mining skill of 115. Smelting silver is
green, and everything else is grey, and he can't learn how to smelt iron
until he reaches a skill level of 125 (however once he gets there, he has
more than 60 lumps of iron ore to work with).
What to do? How do I bridge the gap? I don't know of any place that is
particularly good for mining (except for copper - I know lots of good
copper places) except for the Ogre Mound in Duskwood and, well, he's level
20. He's not going there any time soon.
I could have higher level characters go mine ore for him. I have a level
34 Paladin who is offically retired from adventuring, but who still
sometimes goes out to grind leather (to sell) and ores (for the Hunter,
who is also an Engineer). But the only thing that's good is silver (more
iron is nice, but not really needed), and that's *rare*.
What to do?

Level up, then run around a lvl 20-30 zone mining tin.
If you absolutely cant wait, then you can probably skill it up in a zone
like redridge, but its better to just level up normally and mine as you go.
Less time wasted overall.
