Was wondering that myself - I'd like to know how my rogue poisons will
interact with shaman totems, as obviously it's not a situation I've had
many times, being Alliance, and my guild has very very few shamans, so even
now I've hardly ever grouped with them. If I use a poison does that mean I
can't get benefit from say a windfury totem? If so it'll take some hard
decisions as to which is better...
the temp enchants don't get overwritten automatically AFAIK. I.e. when you have poison applied, you will not get the windfury totem buff (which lasts only some seconds btw, then gets reloaded). But you can overwrite the buffs explicitly.

Hmm, makes sense and worth knowing... now the question is if windfury does
more damage than poison; poisons being a static amount of damage, at some
point gearwise your weapon will be doing enough damage that the extra
attacks from windfury are worth more. The question is at what point that
happens... ;-)

Judging from the answers I've seen: as soon as more of the group members can profit from WF than from agi.
I.e. only fury/arms warrior, rogues and enh shammie -> wf
feral druids, hunters -> agi may be better. Even better: get more rogues/warriors in the party for the hunter or the ferals; the overall raid dps will increase.

BTW WF-totem affects only the MH IIRC, you can still use poison/stones on the OH.

I'd personally would have guessed that in order to maximize melee DPS the combination of strength of earth, grace of air and poison/sharpening stone would be best. But apparently some theorycraft from a shaman somewhere shows that strength of earth + windfury is superior to this in general raiding situations. unfortunately I don't have a thread with this information :/ But I'll certainly try to find it as it interests me personally also.

Hope you can find it; I'd be very interested to see it!

http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t13297-enhance_shaman_collected_works_theorycraft_vol_i/ is a long thread about the maths behind enh shaman. Much too complicated for a game if you ask me :)

here a sample post http://elitistjerks.com/376192-post40.html from this thread http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t12637-shaman_melee_group_totem_choice/

another fun thing, if you're bored during a raid: totem twisting. WF totem gives a 9s buff to the weapon of everyone in your group. this buff stays on the weapon, even if the WF totem is destroyed. So you let the Wf totem proc, then set down GoA, wait till the 9s are nearly over and then set WF again :) repeat. Nice idea in general, but if you're not really good at it, you'll foul up and lower the total group dps :)
