Hey all,

How does (dis)enchanting work nowadays? When you first take
enchanting you can get your skill up by disenchanting items (I think
max is 50 or so). That used to be all you could get from DE, before
the patch that changed enchanting so you could no longer DE epics
with a skill of 1.

But how about now? Is it the same, or can you get skillups later in
the game when you DE higher level stuff?

Also, how difficult/expensive is it to get a high level of
enchanting these days? AFAIK the last 10-20 up to 300 point were
quite expensive before the expansion, but how about now? I mean,
not many people want the 280-300 enchants anymore I'd guess - are
there any "cheap" enchants added to make it easier to get through
that part of it? Or do you need to enchant crusader and +4 stats
over and over on a piece of vendor trash?

TIA

I leveled up enchanting just for the disenchanting and discovered
that you can DE just about anything except epics at level 275. So I
haven't bothere to level it any higher and saved myself quite a bit
of gold I expect.

Only 275? that's very nice to know, I thought you had to get higher
to DE lvl 70 blues. That makes it a bit more interesting, since the
idea in enchanting was to use it as a moneymaker with DE'ing.
Currently I have skinning and it doesn't seem to be very good for
cash.

Yup 275 is all you need.

Sweet, gonna take up enchanting then. Not very likely to get many epics to
DE on this char, so it's not too be important to be able to do that :P

Skinning sadly is not much of a money maker. When BC first came out the
BC
skins were selling very well but then supply got ahead of demand and the
prices crashed.

Yeah, that's what I noticed. I chose mining and skinning as my professions
on this char since he's on a different server than my main, so I won't be
able to feed him cash that way. But so far the skinning has only paid
little, and when I look at the high level stuff on AH it doesn't look like
it's going to improve much. I'll give enchanting a shot, can't be much
worse.
