Whats the future of wow?
Any expansions on the table in the next year?
Any big upgrades to content? Such as instance revamps, etc...
New classes or races?

It seems the big news to look forward to is what is going to be nerfed in
the next patch or two...

Content patches add new stuff rather often. Stuff like battlegrounds
and 10+ man raid dungeons were not present in the original release of
the game. This was all added with content patches. The 10 man raid
Zul'Aman will be the next content added to the game.

Other than that, there is nothing but rumors and very vague
information from Blizzard about what is next. Blizzard claims to be
working on new battlegrounds but are concerned with spreading PVP too
thin. I also read that they are updating Duskwallow Marsh, though no
information was given as to what they were updating, or if this is a
mid-level or endgame update to the zone.

Theres also been the long running idea of hero classes. Blizzard
claims to have abandoned this idea because they believe the term "hero
class" demands too much, whatever that means. I have read though that
they are working on a hero class type system, where you pick your base
class, then through yoru choice of talents, are presented with the
option of becoming a sub-class of that base class. This would give
you access to abilities that no one else has. Of course, this system
of "hero classes" is really just an extension of the talent system.
The only difference is when you become one of these sub-classes, that
is what your character shows up as (ex. instead of people seeing you
as a warlock, they see you as a Master Demonologist or a Blood Mage).
That information also came from an unreliable source, so I wouldn't
bet on it becoming part of the game.

Blizzard has also stated that they plan to release a new expansion
every 1-2 years. Given the eventual reaction to TBC, they need to put
a lot of work into the next expansion to make it worthwhile.

Blizzcon is coming up in a few weeks. Wait till then and see if
anything new is divulged.
