I saw two on the Horde AH on Tanaris last night and they were selling
for 15G and 20G.
There were quite a few cat carriers from the crazy cat lady in Elwynn
Forest, but they were going for around 5G to 6G each.
So, I imagine these were put up for sale on the neutral AH first by
Alliance and then purchased by Horde and placed on their AH with a
markup.
I'm sure. I'm surprised this is still going on. I did this when I
played WoW before, soon after it was released. I was Horde but
created an Alliance alt and found a business partner on that side to
make arrangements with. We'd each supply the other with a stock of
pets and exchange them over Gadgetzan and then resell them on our own
side. It was a gigantic moneymaker. I assumed it was an opportunity
because of the game being new, though. I didn't figure it would still
be a profitable these days.
This, on the other hand, is only 1 server and what I've found from
rolling many alts on other servers is each server's economy is quite
unique. There have been occasions when I think that many of my fellow
players are on the toad. Either that or they have no real
understanding of economics whatsoever.
In any population as large as that of a WoW server, you're going to
get people all over the spectrum. I notice this with silk all the
time. I don't understand why, when there are 200 silk cloth auctions
going on, people still put up new ones at triple the market price.
Exactly who do they think they are going to sell to? Don't they get
tired of losing their deposits over and over again?
