Your problem is this...

Microsoft.

Get a Mac.

Heres my problem. Everything I want runs in Windows. Some games and
software have Linux versions, some have Mac versions, but all have
Windows versions. So I am kind of forced to have Windows in some
capacity.

I've used Linux and Mac operating systems and didn't like the user
interface. Too long spent using Windows interfaces I guess.

That being said, I hate Vista. My fiancee's new laptop came with
Vista. It looks nice, but I spent a while getting WoW just to run on
it. And it doesn't run it very well either. Even though the laptop
is much more powerful than my desktop, I get a much poorer framerate
than I do on my desktop running XP. This can probably be blamed on
poor driver support, and the fact that Vista is a resource HOG.

And every once in a while, Vista starts running something in the
background, something that does not appear in the task manager. Other
Vista users I have talked to have experienced the same thing.
Whatever this background task is doing, it makes WoW completely
unplayable while it does it.

Here is what I think an OS should do:
Manage resources, not suck them all up for its own use
Serve the user, not itself. I shouldn't be stuck waiting for Vista to
do its background thing so I can play WoW.
Be backwards compatible. There is lots of old software and hardware
out there, and a new OS shouldn't be causing so many problems with
existing hardware.

Thats it, thats all I want from an OS. I don't want it trying to
police what I do on my computer. Thats the job of my choice of anti-
spyware, virus, and malware programs. I don't want it to stop and
askme if I really want to run something I just double clicked on. I
don't want some fancy user interface that sucks up resources that my
games need to run.

KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid.
