Skinning Courtesy

Last night my hunter was wacking gorillas in STV for a quest.

After I looked a victim, some joker would come over and try to skin it
before I could. He was following me around for much of the quest. I
would guess that he managed to beat me about half the time he tried.

Is it considered proper form for someone to try and skin your kill
before you've finished with it?
