Just curious about how other people come to choose their character names?
I'm currently having a laugh because my usual method for choosing
character
names (plugging relevant words into a Gaelic dictionary and choosing one I
like that also sounds like a name) turned up the name Naomh for my
forthcoming Draenei priest, meaning "holy". I thought I'd google it just
now and see if I could find out how to pronounce it (turns out it's
pronounced "Nay-v", which I quite like), and discovered to my surprise
that
it *is* actually a real name!
Not one I'd ever heard of before but it comes up on a few baby name sites;
thankfully it is female, as I'd already decided my priest was to be female
(pending my actually seeing some Draenei ingame; I don't like the male
shape and animations much from videos I've seen, haven't seen enough of
the
females yet), but much to my horror on checking warcraftrealms.com I find
a
lot of other characters with that name. None listed on my server but right
now I'm cursing the maintenance, as I'm thinking it'll be a rather good
idea to make a placeholder character to reserve the name :-P
I usually use Battletec aerospace-fighter names. Ok, not that creative, but
noone seems to recognize them as such.
My mains are named
Chippewa and Chaeronea.
The only problem is, that my raidleader can´t pronounce any of them. :)
