You only need 30 Syndicate badges to get the friendly reputation (which
I believe comes in handy much later). For me, this quest was worthwhile
if only to get the hang of pick-pocketing. I never bothered to pick
pockets before, but this quest really showed me how much extra loot you
get when you do.
27 if you're human. I have to agree, what I got from this "quest" was
much bigger than a physical quest reward. I learned how to use my
stealth abilities. Distract, pickpocket, don't do something risky
until vanish timer is up, etc.
Oh another thing you can get here is the pattern for Thistle Tea. I
believe the Gnome in the basement sells it when your rep. is friendly.
I got the recipe for thistle tea at level 20 as a quest reward. I
think I'll do the quest if I get bored enough one day.
