Re: New Raiding Guild

If you have people with their Rank 12+ gear, then you are good into
Nefarian. Your guild should have no problem, aside from a few practice
attempts at each boss. You have the gear, and obviously the
coordination since you have a few high ranking PvPers. PvE is so easy
compared to PvP, extremely predicatable. People that are below Rank 12
will need a little MC loot, but not much.

Best way I could put it, if you have a 40 man raid of Rank 11-12+ gear,
you have the gear to run straight to Nefarian without any
issues...........aside from a tank with some really nice FR gear.

My guild is a medium size guild that primarily focuses on BG's with a few
Grand Marshals in our midst. There are some in the guild that are
discussing the idea to start recruiting players to begin the upward
progression through the raid-level instances. Before we undertake such an
effort, it would be nice to have a realistic assessment of the amount of
effort/time it will take a raid-inexperienced guild to progress up through
the raid instances to Naxx.

For example:

pre-MC - x months to get properly equipped
MC - x months
BWL - x months
AQ40 - x months
pre-Naxx - x months
Naxx - ...
and whatever else one might want to throw in

Personally I believe it is in the guild's best interest to fully know the
level of effort required before the guild undertakes the task. Just
recently a member left to join a raiding guild because that was their
interest. There were no hard feelings on anyone's part because we all know
that we are a BG guild and if one wants to do MC+ raids they have to go
elsewhere. Most likely we will remain a BG guild, but the discussion has
come up.

BG FM gear is quite comparable to a lot of the epics in BWL. However if
you do take up MC and beyond, be prepared to drop BG for better or
worse. It took us 8 months to kill Ragnaros but the threshold is much
easier these days. We did BWL in 3-6 months and AQ to TE in about 2-3.

Since your guild is already mostly geared in epics (assuming FM + ZG +
AQ) you would probably finish MC in 2-3 months. You will also probably
have to go to ZG and AQ for some key loot that is not available
elsewhere.

So here's what I think
MC 3-4 months (if they listen or have a good experienced leader, < 1.5
months)
BWL 3-5 months
AQ 3-4 months
Naxx much longer :)

You must resist the temptation to skip Rag to go to BWL and skip BWL to
go to Naxx. You need the gear and experience to progress.
