Instances Introduction

I have never played an instance and I have several questions for when
the time arrive to get there.

1)The instances are faction limited? I mean that I realized that some
instances are on the horde territory so I wonder if I will have to
fight the guards in order to get to them or if I am simply not allowed
to play them

2)How a group enters an instance? I mean if the instances are created
to be "private group" experiences how I can make sure that I will
be entering the instance with all my friends without getting separated?
Everybody simply walks in at the same time or what? What happens if I
enter an instance by myself? Will I be able to receive others players
on it later?
